About Abdullah

Kingsley Equestrian’s Abdullah Patterson is a distinguished Grand Prix rider and a highly sought-after Equestrian Canada Competition Coach Specialist (Dressage). Operating out of Rivershire Farm, Abdullah offers training and coaching services.

Originally from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and raised in Barbados, Abdullah began his equestrian journey at the age of 10. His competitive career started with local and FEI-sanctioned events, riding horses trained by his coach. Early in his career, he worked as a student under Akoele Roachford (FEI Level 2 coach) at Cleland Equestrian Club in Barbados. Akoele represented Barbados at the 2010 Pan-American Games, the 2011 CAC Games, and participated in the World Dressage Challenge Finals in 2004 and 2005 (Germany).

Abdullah’s competitive achievements include success at the Medium Level in Barbados (equivalent to 2nd level) and competing in FEI 1.20m jumpers. He was also part of the team at the FEI World Dressage Challenge in Barbados.

In 2011, Abdullah relocated to Ottawa to work as a student under Grand Prix rider Simone Williams at Queenswood Stables, where he worked for four years. He then oversaw the development and management of Pebble Creek Ranch from 2015 onwards.

In 2016, Abdullah took on the roles of head coach, trainer, and manager at Pebble Creek Ranch, where he trained Buckley (RCMP), bringing the horse from training level to FEI competition in just three years, earning mid-60s scores and debuting Buckley at Grand Prix at national-level shows. He has trained multiple horses up to the Grand Prix.

Throughout his career, Abdullah has trained numerous riders and horses, guiding them from training level to FEI competition, including a Junior rider who qualified for the North American Youth Championship (NAYC).

Abdullah’s future goals include representing Barbados at the Pan-American Games.

Abdullah has earned multiple year-end awards from organizations such as Equestrian Canada, the Ottawa Area Dressage Group, and Cadora National. He is currently coached by Susanne Dutt-Roth (CEFE Level III Dressage coach) and has participated in clinics with prominent riders such as Megan Lane, Peter Storr, and Dianne Creech.
